Sixth Sense-the Future of Mobile Technology

Just when I thought touch devices like iphones,Tablet pc's etc are going to rule the near future, comes a far more cutting edge technology which looks like as if pulled out from a Sci-Fi movie. Pattie Mae , founder of Fluid Interfaces Group recently unveiled Sixth Sense, a wearable device comprising a projector which projects the virtual world onto any surface an can be accessed with hand gestures…something like in the movie Minority Report.Watch the video to get a peek into the future.

SIXTH SENSE DEMO
Pranav Mistry, a PhD student in the Fluid Interfaces Group at MIT's Media Lab is the wizard behind this project, which aims to blend in the virtual world with physical world by making data accessible, anywhere, anytime.

If this becomes viable ad practical, we will be “wearing” our mobile devices either as cap, sunglasses or as “bling bling” chains.Hope the day come sooner………

Welcome to Villa Aqua....

Vibs had recently blogged about sky villas which are "by invitation only".Interestingly, looks like its not just the sky, but also the sea where villas will come up in the near future making sci-fi become sci-tru :).

Trilobis 65 is one such submerged dwelling environment or simply a floating home.

Italian naval architect Giancarlo Zema  who designed the part yacht and part submarine says " "The main aim of the project is to allow anyone to live in a unique environment through a self-sufficient, nonpolluting dwelling that exists in unison with their ocean surrounding"

THE EARTH STANDS STILL AFTER 57 YEARS

Keanu Reeves is back with a sci-fi movie but not the one we would imageall expect. The Day the Earth Stood Still is a remake of the 1951 film of the same name. Directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Keanu Reeves as Klaatu, it is a story about  a alien messenger who comes with a warning that the humans will be killed for saving planet earth.

Look below the trailers of the old & new below

Although it looks funny now,the original was considered a neat movie as the timing was perfect .  The  director Scott Derrickson & writer by David Scarpa said they have reimagined the story. The cold war theme had been replaced by  environmental issues and spiced with a heavy dose of  CGI for "groundbreaking" visual effects.

The movie has already drawn flak from movie reviewers for relying heavily on visual and charm of  "Klaatu" Keanu killing the substance of the original.Rotten Tomatoes consensus says "Heavy on special effects, but without a coherent story at its base, The Day the Earth Stood Still is subpar re-imagining of the 1951 science-fiction classic"

So If  you like movies with lots of graphics , little story and Keanu Reeves, go ahead while it is "Still in Theatres"
