IPL – Innovative Performers League

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
One of the factors to achieve greatness , is to stand the test of time , and that’s why Shakespeare is considered the greatest playwright ever.
Even today the above mentioned quote from “As You Like It” is put to good use to generate billions of revenue , providing employment to thousands of people and most of all entertaining billions of people just using a bat & a ball.
Ruchi, asked me a few days before “what do you think of IPL?”.I imagehad no answer then.I haven't had thought about it much .But the more I thought about it, I saw more drama than the sport itself. After watching Harsha Bhogle’s TED talk on IPL , my bro and I couldn’t decide whether he was favoring IPL or mocking it. But it did strengthened my opinion that IPL is more about business than cricket
IPL1 was good , IPL 2 was better, and I am sure IPL 3 would be even better ,not because of cricket but because of the controversies .

Brand BJP and its Ambassador Advaniji

Disclaimer : I am not endorsing Mr.Advani,BJP or their ideas & views .

The Bharathiya Janata Party has embraced the world wide web in order to cover the netizens as well.Shri L.K. Advani-Prime Ministerial Candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has setup a web site with a specific objective of connecting with youth and a global audience .

Neatly designed with a intro voice message from Mr.Advani himself, the web site features everything about him the party, the achievements, the promises and get this.....a blog too.

Even though I am averse to all Indian Political Parties ,as a marketer I am impressed. imageTake a look at the new logo and the web site , it has a clear message.BJP is connecting with netizens, while others are still lagging behind. Also this will give the party a global visibility. Think about the perception that corporates,Govt Officials & others in foreign countries will have about Indian Political parties.

Now that's brand building in the internet age...

Dark Times for India Inc

A CEO,of a Italian Company has been Killed by his own employees.

Just when one thought it will get better, today a much graver and darker incident has brought India Inc,to the world's attention for all the wrong reasons.

Throughout the month , Tata Singur issue raised questions of future investments in West Bengal.Communal violence in Orissa and Floods in Bihar & UP,has caused serious damage to the business firms there. The Wall St washout is posing  a major threat to the Indian IT companies as there  are unsettled bills by the Investment banks who are among the major clients.India Inc is in bad shape for quite sometime with micro as well as macro issues creeping up everyday. But this is not just another bad day.

Lalit Kishore Chaudhary, the CEO of an Italy-based company Graziano Trasmissioni, in Greater Noida was BEATEN UP TO DEATH with rods and hammers by the firm's own employees who were a dismissed earlier over a dispute.Over 50 executives and staff were injured out of around 10 are in the ICU.When the police was called, only two constables arrived that too after an hour. The Italian Embassy has expressed a "deep shock" over the matter, which was not expecting this kind of tragedy.

More worse than this how our Indian Government is handling this problem. Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes told reporters at a press conference "This should serve as a warning for the managements. It is my appeal to the managements that the workers should be dealt with compassion,There are disparities in the wages of permanent employees and contract workers. The workers should not be pushed so hard that they resort to whatever that had happened in Noida,”.

What  in the world he is trying to say? Is he telling to the MNC's that if they do not pay well to the local staff, their CEO's will be beaten to death?.

I am just shocked to see, how politics is rotten in India, which makes ministers to say such things.

Palin!! Power!! -Prez & Play???

Tired of seeing the power plays by the US prez candidates? Well you can relax by playing with their Action Figures. You can get either the Power Palin or Obama Sock Monkey depending upon your support(Possibly the opposite party's?!!)

While Palin comes in like a Secret Agent and a School Girl, Obama is the beach dude.Hey dont forget the the bouncer McCain , who is often forgotten as it seems that the fight is between Ms.Alaska Barracuda VS Mr.Barack.

From a marketing point of view, what was the need for these action figures? who are they targeting?.I think these dolls are made for the parody lovers (people who mock ads, make spoof videos etc).Spoof videos are one of the highest watched category in sites like youtube, dailymotion etc. And since the dolls having a mocking tone, the Palin toys are for the democrats and the Obama sock monkeys are for the republicans.

Its time for Prez & Play!!!!

Will Tata say tata to Singur

"It is for the people of West Bengal and Kolkata to decide whether we are going to be an unwanted resident or a good corporate citizen of West Bengal"-Ratan Tata

The Tata-Singur Issue is pushing the company to shutdown the plant completely.Ratan Tata has made it clear that TATA motors will move out of Singur if necessary to protect its staff.

Its a tragedy that such a revolutionary project which will take the average middle class Indian consumer to a new level of dignity and pride,is being suppressed by external forces for political benefits.Infact,it is reported that around 2.5 lakhs/day is spent on the food alone to keep the protest alive.

Other states like Rajasthan,Himachal,Karnataka have rolled out red carpets to Tata. Now its Tata's time to decide to move or not to move.
If it moves out,it will surely tarnish the image of West Bengal causing a huge setback in its growth. Also it will take much more time to convince companies to invest in the state in the future.
When TATA Nano was unveiled at the auto expo, it got global attention, now the protests has also got global attention.Read the story in Interanational Herald Tribune

Mayawati Makes A Mark

Mayawati Naina Kumari ,one of the most successful female politicians of India has entered in the Forbes club of 100 most powerful women in the world. She is 59th in the list, next to Mrs.Sonia Gandhi at 21.

Mayawati recently made the headlines when she asked during a interview "Why cant I become Prime Minister?" Some say she could become the nation's first Dalit Prime Minister due to her shrewdness, which is evident from her brilliant Social Engineering efforts which has created a strong Dalit-Brahmin alliance in BSP. In fact, Nakul Dubey one of her chief advisers is a brahmin and currently a Vidhan Sabha Member.

According to TOI"Mayawati is the top taxpayer among politicians and ranks among the 20 top taxpayers in the country. In 2007-08, the Dalit czarina shelled out Rs 26.26 crore as income tax, according to the I-T department's compilation of the top 200 taxpayers' list".
